today, I’d love to tell you about the ways Korean women use to beautify their short straight sparse eyelashes. The technique is really surprising – the latest trend of LASH-CURLING WITH FIRE. It sounds scary, I know..
First things first, though.
Short, straight lashes is the problem many women face up to.
I’m not a big fan of my lashes either. Lots of women I know complain about not having longer, thicker and (mostly) curled lashes.
Still, Koreans are likely to have the least attractive lashes. Their lashes are embedded in a way that makes them barely visible so defining them without a quality mascara or falsies is really challenging. No wonder Korean women are the creators of the weirdest makeup trends.
How to curl lashes?
A curler and a curling mascara are the easiest ways. You can try a heated curler giving a stronger effect or go for lash lamination (semi-permanent curl treatment using a special product and a tiny rod).
Koreans, however, took the next step and made up lash-curling with fire (or actually with a heated stick).
Fire that gives a lash curl. What is this all about?
The fire treatment is a way to turn lashes around. An innovative one, that’s for sure. To me, it sounds a little bit like the Middle Ages’ beauty ritual when heated metal was used for curling the hair. I was shocked to discover someone is using fire to have lashes curled nowadays. Actually, it turns out to be quite popular!
What does the treatment involve? You heat up a barbecue stick which is supposed to work like a heated curler. The heat gives and sets the curl for a long-lasting effect.
Be careful! It is quite risky
Let’s forget the effect for a moment. You must be aware that lash curling with fire may get a bit dangerous… If you use the stick when it’s still hot, you’ll burn your gentle lashes.
To be honest, I’m doubtful about this lifehack. I believe heat is never beneficial for lashes, let alone doing it after applying mascara. After all, mascaras contain various ingredients which might become toxic due to heat, which will ruin your lashes.

How to curl lashes using fire?
- Use a regular lash curler first.
- Apply your favorite mascara.
- Take a barbecue stick and heat its tip with a lighter.
- When it gets darker and burns, stop heating.
- Wait for a few seconds and check if the tip isn’t too hot using a finger.
- Carefully touch the lashes and move the stick from the bottom to the top.
- Use the zig-zag motion.
- Repeat until getting the desired effect.
Remember not to use too high temperature and never use blazing fire to curl your lashes!
Lash-curling alternatives
Despite the popularity and Korean women raving about this trick, I’m a little skeptical…
There are so many other ways to curl lashes without the fire. For instance, a regular lash curler gives a long-lasting effect in just a few seconds. I know from personal experience that an eyelash serum and a quality mascara make the best duo. Healthy lashes enhanced by a professional product get the most gorgeous curl.
