Hey, girls!
I haven’t written for a long time cause I was busy with the material for this post. I decided to take a closer look at two Oriflame hair oils. They belong to beautifully designed Eleo range.
ELEO Protecting Oil works for color-treated hair whereas ELEO Smoothening Oil is designed for unruly strands; it conditions and prevents frizz and static.
Apart from being color-treated (had it colored long time ago, it lost its color and shine), my hair is really irritating. There are days when I can’t handle my hairdo, hair ends get extremely frizzy – they’re simply UNMANAGEABLE.
I got a chance to test Eleo oils thanks to my consultant’s (my sister’s :D) kindness. She ordered one for her freshly colored hair and the other especially for me as a gift, saying: do sth with the straw on your head. Sisters… if you have one, you know what I mean… 🙂 To the bottom line! I decided to test both Oriflame oils to write a fair review.
What are Oriflame hair oils composed of?
1. Eleo Protecting Hair Oil
It’s aimed at conditioning hair, especially ends. It makes hair smooth and protects from damage. It’s made up of many natural oils e.g. palm oil – rich in vitamins A, B, E, moisturises the hair. What are other oils included? Argan oil contains lots of regenerating sterols; sunflower oil softens and smoothes the hair; burdock extract intensifies shine and delivers nutrients; damask rose oil improves hair structure, which makes hair elastic. Apart from the mentioned treasures, the oil includes silicones, volatile alcohols and parabens. It’s unsuitable for scalp oiling, don’t you even think about it! Apply it to hair for long-lasting color!
For those familiar with the chemical names, I’m adding the list of ingredients of Eleo Protecting Oil:
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, DIMETHICONOL, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, AMODIMETHICONE, ELAEIS GUINEENSIS OIL, PARFUM, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, HEXYL CINNAMAL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, LINALOOL, BENZYL SALICYLATE, LIMONENE, CITRONELLOL, GERANIOL, COUMARIN, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL, LINOLEIC ACID, OLEIC ACID, ARCTIUM LAPPA ROOT EXTRACT, PALMITIC ACID, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER OIL, STEARIC ACID, LINOLENIC ACID, TOCOPHEROL
2. Eleo Smoothening Hair Oil
As the name suggests, the oil is supposed to smooth the hair, tame unruly strands, fight dryness and protect from damage. Say goodbye to hairstyles that Europe singers liked to wear! 🙂 Eleo Smoothening Oil has the same oils as the first product. On the other hand, in this version, there are far more silicones. It’s true that the cosmetic adds amazing smoothness. Sadly, you can’t use it too often cause it will make your hair dry. The product focuses on enhancing the appearance rather than hair repair.
For comparison, I’m adding the list if ingredients of Eleo Smoothening Oil:
CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, DIMETHICONOL, C12-15 ALKYL BENZOATE, DIMETHICONE, ELAEIS GUINEENSIS OIL, ETHYLHEXYL METHOXYCINNAMATE, PARFUM, ETHYLHEXYLGLYCERIN, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, BENZYL SALICYLATE, BENZYL BENZOATE, LINALOOL, LIMONENE, HYDROXYCITRONELLAL, GERANIOL, CINNAMYL ALCOHOL, ALPHA-ISOMETHYL IONONE, ARGANIA SPINOSA KERNEL OIL, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL, LINOLEIC ACID, BHT, OLEIC ACID, ARCTIUM LAPPA ROOT EXTRACT, PALMITIC ACID, ROSA DAMASCENA FLOWER OIL, STEARIC ACID, LINOLENIC ACID, TOCOPHEROL
Fine… what about my hair? How did it look after using the oils? I didn’t rush and devoted some time to testing both products.
When I applied the oils to wet hair, Eleo Protecting Oil (for color-treated hair) worked better for me, that’s for sure. On the other hand, when I applied the oils to dry hair after or before styling, Eleo Smoothening Oil delivered better results.
So, if you strive for spectacular looks, go for number 2. If you want extra nutrients and conditioning, choose Eleo no 1.
